Go Industries was founded in 1978 by R.J. Orth. Mr Orth saw the need for workmen to protect the tailgates of their pickup trucks, so he began to market his first tailgate protector. The original Go Industries "tailgate guard" was chrome plated and made from 11 gauge steel. It soon became apparent to Mr Orth that pickup truck owners needed various functional accessories for their trucks.
